Resetting your electronics is the "Have you unplugged it and plugged it back in" troubleshooting step for anything that runs on a battery. It quite often will fix any issue that you are experiencing with your device. This is our ever-growing list of resets for every device that we repair.
If you do not see a reset for the device that you are looking for, leave a comment at the bottom of the article with the device brand and model and we will add it to the list.
Glossary by Brand:
Apple
Airpods (Version 1 & 2 & Airpods Pro)
- Put your Airpods in their case. Close the lid and wait 30 seconds.
- For iPhone users, go to your Bluetooth settings and tap the "i" next to your Airpods connection then tap "Forget this device" and tap again to confirm. (If you are using them with an Android device, skip to the next step.)
- With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until you see the status light flashing amber.
- Reconnect to your Airpods.
iPads with a home button
- Hold the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
- Continue to hold the buttons when the power off slider appears.
- Release the buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.
iPads without a home button
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
iPhone 8 and newer

Click and release the Volume Up button.

Click and release the Volume Down button.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slide to power off slider appears.

Move the "slide to power off" slider from left to right to reset the phone.
iPhone 7
- Hold the down volume button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
- Continue to hold the buttons when the power off slider appears.
- Release the buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.
iPhones Preceding the iPhone 7
- Hold the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
- Continue to hold the buttons when the power off slider appears.
- Release the buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.
iPod touch
- Hold the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
- Continue to hold the buttons when the power off slider appears.
- Release the buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Watch (All Versions)
- Press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown.
- Release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.
Beats
Pill 1.0 and 2.0
- Turn the Pill on.
- Hold the "b" button and the power button for 10 seconds.
- The light will flash green/red a few times, then your Pill has been reset.
- You may need to delete the pill from your Bluetooth connections and reconnect to it.
Pill+
Reset and keep settings
- Hold down the power button for 8 seconds, then let go.
- Press the power button once. The Fuel Gauge flashes white to red 3 times.
- Your device is now reset.
Reset and delete settings
This will restore your Beats Pill+ to its factory settings.
- Use the Lightning to USB cable to plug your Beats Pill+ into a power source.
- Turn the speaker on.
- Hold down both the "b" button and the power button for 6 seconds.
- The Fuel Gauge flashes red 6 times.
- Your Beats Pill+ is restored to the settings it had when it was purchased.
PowerBeats 2 Wireless
- First, plug in your charger to your earbuds.
- Hold the power button and volume down button at the same time.
- After 10 seconds, the power light will begin to flash indicating that the earbuds are being reset.
PowerBeats 3 Wireless
Reset 1:
- Plugin your charger cable.
- Hold the down volume and power button at the same time for 10 seconds.
- The Powerbeats will blink red indicating that the reset is complete.
Reset 2:
- Make sure your unit is powered off and is not charging.
- Hold the power button for 10 seconds
- The indicator light will flash red/white a few times indicating that the reset is complete.
PowerBeats Pro
- Put both earbuds in their charging case.
- Press and hold the button inside the case for 15 seconds.
- The light will flash white/red a few times indicating that the reset is complete.
Solo 2/3 Wireless
- Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
- The fuel gauge and power button lights will flash a few times indicating that the reset is complete.
Studio 2 Wired Version and Wireless Version
- Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
- The fuel gauge and power button lights will flash a few times indicating that the reset is complete.
Studio 3 Wireless
- Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
- The fuel gauge and power button lights will flash a few times indicating that the reset is complete.
Bose
Soundlink Color I and II
- Press and hold the AUX and volume down buttons for 10 seconds.
Soundlink Mini 1
- Press and hold the mute button for 10 seconds.
Soundlink Mini 2
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
SoundSport Wireless
- Turn the headphones off and wait for 30 seconds
- Plug the headphones into a USB power supply via a USB cord and wait 5 seconds. (Power supply needs to be plugged into a working outlet)
- Unplug the USB cord from the headphones and wait 1 minute
- Turn the headphones on and test if they work properly
Note: Performing this reset does not clear the pairing list on your headphones. To reset the Bluetooth® pairing list, hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
SoundSport Pulse Wireless
- Turn the headphones off and wait for 30 seconds
- Plug the headphones into a USB power supply via a USB cord and wait 5 seconds. (Power supply needs to be plugged into a working outlet)
- Unplug the USB cord from the headphones and wait 1 minute
- Turn the headphones on and test if they work properly
Note: Performing this reset does not clear the pairing list on your headphones. To reset the Bluetooth® pairing list, hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
QC35 Wireless (All Versions)
- Turn the headset off and wait for 30 seconds.
- Plug the headset into a USB power supply via USB cord and wait 5 seconds.
- Unplug the USB cord from the headset and wait 1 minute.
- Turn on the headset and test if the headset works properly.
Note: Performing this reset does not clear the pairing list on your headphones. Slide the power switch to the Bluetooth® symbol and hold for 10 seconds until you hear “Bluetooth device list cleared.”
Quiet Control 30 Wireless
- Turn the headphones off and wait for 30 seconds
- Plug the headphones into a USB power supply via a USB cord and wait 5 seconds. (Power supply needs to be plugged into a working outlet)
- Unplug the USB cord from the headphones and wait 1 minute
- Turn the headphones on and test if they work properly
Note: Performing this reset does not clear the pairing list on your headphones. To reset the Bluetooth® pairing list, hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
DJI
Phantom 4 Controller
- Turn on the controller with the aircraft powered off.
- Press C1, C2, and shutter (top right button nearest antenna) on the controller and hold for about 2 seconds until it beeps (D-DDD), then turn the controller off.
- Turn on both the aircraft and the controller and link the remote.
Fitbit
Blaze
- Press the left-hand button and right lower button simultaneously.
- Hold the buttons for 10 to 12 seconds.
- Wait until the Fitbit logo displays on the screen (the tracker will likely vibrate as well).
- Release the buttons.
Charge (All Versions)
- Plug your charging cable into your computer.
- Plug your Charge into the charging cable.
- Press and hold the button for 10 to 12 seconds until you see the Fitbit icon and a version number on the screen.
- Let go of the button.
Ionic
- Hold the left button and the bottom right side button down at the same time until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.
Surge
- Press and hold the Home and Select buttons (left and bottom right) on your Fitbit Surge for 10 to 15 seconds, until you see the screen flash or start to dim.
- Let go of the buttons.
- After your screen turns completely off, wait 10 seconds and press the Home button to turn your Surge back on.
Versa (All Versions)
Soft Reset:
- Press and hold the left (single) button and right bottom button until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.
- Let go and it will restart.
Factory Reset:
- Hold all three buttons down for about 15 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears, then release the bottom right button and keep pressing the other two.
- A strong vibration will indicate that the factory reset has taken place and all your personal data has been wiped clean.
Garmin
Approach (S1 & S2)
Soft Reset
- Press and hold the Light/Power button, wait up to 30 seconds until device powers on/off.
- Release Light/Power button
Factory Reset
- Press and hold Light/Power button, wait up to 30 seconds until device powers on/off
- Press and hold the Down button and the Light/Power button
- Release both buttons when the screen displays "Clear user data" select Yes
- The setup screen will appear and the device will be set back to default factory settings.
Approach (S3-S6)
Soft Reset:
- Press and hold the Light/Power button
- Wait up to 30 seconds until device powers on/off
- Release Light/Power button
Factory Reset:
- Power off device
- Press and hold the Score button
- Press the Power button
- Release all buttons when the screen displays "Clear user data?"
- Select Yes
Fenix 2/Fenix 3/Fenix 5/Fenix (All Versions)
Soft Reset:
- Hold the light button for 25 seconds.
- This will turn your watch off.
- Hold the light button again to turn the watch back on.
Factory Reset:
There are two ways to reset your Garmin Fenix to its original factory settings.
Option 1:
Use the menus:
SETTINGS > SYSTEM > RESTORE DEFAULTS
Your Garmin Fenix will now be reset to factory settings.
Option 2:
Using the buttons:
- Hold the power/Light button until the menu appears.
- Choose power off.
- Press and hold the lap/back button.
- Press the power/light button.
- When “Clean user data: Yes/No?” shows on the screen, release the lap button.
- Then choose yes, to factory reset the Garmin watch.
- Your watch is now hard reset and ready to pair to Garmin Connect again.
Forerunner 210
Soft Reset:
1. Simultaneously hold the page/menu and lap/reset buttons for a few seconds.
Factory Reset:
- Power off watch (press and hold Light, Yes on prompt)
- Simultaneously press and hold the Start/Stop, Lap/Reset, and Light buttons
- After the first beep, release Start/Stop.
- After the second beep, release Lap/Reset.
- Release Light.
Forerunner 230/Forerunner 235
Soft Reset:
- Press and hold the Light button for about 15 seconds, until the device asks if you want to turn it off.
- Select "Yes" and hold the Runner button.
- Press and hold the Light Button for 1 second.
- The watch should restart.
Factory Reset:
- Go to
Forerunner 645/Forerunner 735XT/ Forerunner 935XT
Soft Reset:
- Hold the light button for 25 seconds.
- This will turn your watch off.
- Hold the light button again to turn the watch back on.
Factory Reset:
There are two ways to reset your Garmin Forerunner to its original factory settings.
Option 1:
Use the menus:
Settings > System > Restore Defaults
Your Garmin Fenix will now be reset to factory settings.
Option 2:
Using the buttons:
- Hold the power/Light button until the menu appears.
- Choose power off.
- Press and hold the lap/back button.
- Press the power/light button.
- When “Clean user data: Yes/No?” shows on the screen, release the lap button.
- Then choose yes, to factory reset the Garmin watch.
- Your watch is now hard reset and ready to pair to Garmin Connect again.
Vivoactive HR
Soft Reset:
- Hold the ← button for 15 seconds.
- Hold the ← button for 1 second to turn the device on again.
Factory Reset:

JBL
Charge (All Versions)
- In the beginning, turn the device on by pressing and holding the Power button.
- Then press and hold the Bluetooth button and the Volume Up button together, keep holding them until the device turns off.
- Once the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Power button.
Flip (All Versions)
- Simultaneously hold the power and down volume buttons until the light turns red.
- Restart the speaker.
Link 10/Link 20
- Turn the speaker on by pressing and holding the Power button.
- Next press and hold the Mute button for about 13-15 seconds.
- Once the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Power button.
- Once the device turns on it should be in the pairing mode.
- Reconnect to the speaker.
Link 300/Link 500
- Turn the speaker on by plugging it in.
- Then press and hold the Volume Up button and the Play/Pause button together for 10-20 seconds.
Pulse 2
- Turn the speaker on.
- For 2 seconds, press and hold the Volume up and Play buttons.
- The JBL Pulse will power off and is now reset.
- Turn it back on and reconnect to the speaker.
Pulse 3
- Turn the speaker on by pressing and holding the Power button.
- Then press and hold the Volume Down button and the Bluetooth button together for 10-20 seconds.
- The unit will display Red, Green, and Blue light then go into power off stage.
- Turn the device off by pressing the Power button.
- Turn it back on by pressing the Power button again.
Pulse 4
- Turn the speaker on by pressing and holding the Power button.
- Then press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bluetooth button together for 10-20 seconds.
- The unit will turn off, this indicates that the factory reset is complete.
- Turn it back on by pressing the Power button again.
Xtreme/Xtreme 2
- Turn the speaker on by pressing and holding the Power button.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button and the Volume Up button together, keep holding them until the device turns off.
- Once the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Power button.
- After the device turns on it should be in the pairing mode (Power button flashing blue).
- Reconnect to the speaker.
Microsoft
Xbox One/Xbox One S/Xbox One X
- Start by turning on the MICROSOFT Xbox One X by using the Xbox button.
- Next, scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide and choose Settings.
- Select All Settings.
- Select System.
- Choose Console info & updates.
- Next select Reset console option.
- Choose either "Reset and remove everything" or "Reset and keep my games & apps" depending on why you are resetting it.
UE (Ultimate Ears) Resets
Blast
- Press the Volume down and Power buttons simultaneously and hold for at least six seconds.
- You'll hear a tone that indicates the reset was completed. Your speaker should then turn off. This reset will bring your speaker back to factory settings.
- Turn your speaker back on using the Power button and reconnect to your device.
Boom/Boom 2
Hard Reset
- Hold down the volume down button and power button at the same time until you hear a sound. The speaker will then turn off.
- Turn the speaker back on and attempt to pair it with your device again.
Megaboom/Megaboom 3
Hard Reset
- Hold down the volume down and power button at the same time until you hear a sound. The speaker will then turn off.
- Turn the speaker back on and attempt to pair it with your device again.
Roll/Roll 2
- Turn the speaker on.
- Press and hold the Volume down button and the Power button together for about 10–15 seconds.
- You will hear a tone to confirm the reset was completed.
- The speaker will turn off. When you turn it on again, it will be ready to pair.
Wonderboom
- Turn the speaker on.
- Press and hold the Volume down button and the Power button together for about 10–15 seconds.
- You will hear a tone to confirm the reset was completed.
- The speaker will turn off. When you turn it on again, it will be ready to pair.
Samsung Resets
Galaxy Buds/Icon X (All Versions)
Soft Reset:
- Insert the earbuds into the charging case, and then close the lid.
- Wait 7 seconds or more, and then remove the earbuds from the case.
Alternatively, you can restart your earbuds with the Power/Restart button.
- Remove the wingtip and use a paper clip to press and hold the small Power/Restart button for 10 seconds.
- The earbud will turn off.
- Press and hold the Power/Restart button again, and then release the button once the indicator light flashes three times. The earbud will restart. Repeat the same procedure for the other earbud.
- After the earbuds restart, they will automatically reconnect to your device.
Factory Reset (Erases User Data):
For Galaxy Buds
- Navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Then tap About earbuds.
- Tap Reset earbuds.
- Then tap Reset to confirm.
For Gear IconX
- Tap the SETTINGS tab in the app.
- Then tap About Gear.
- Tap Reset Gear.
- Then tap RESET.
Now, you can pair them with another phone if you'd like.
Galaxy Watch 42mm/Galaxy Watch 46mm/Galaxy Watch Active
Soft Reset:
- Hold the home button for at least 7 seconds until the watch turns off.
- Turn the watch back on.
Factory Reset (Erases user data):
- Turn your watch off.
- Hold the Power/Home button at the bottom of the Watch face until "Rebooting" appears on the screen.
- Quickly, press the Power/Home button multiple times until the "Select REBOOT MODE" screen appears.
- Press the Power/Home button to scroll through options.
- Select Recovery.
- Press and hold the Power/Home key until the device starts rebooting.
- Your watch will now delete all data and restore to factory settings, this can take a couple of minutes.
Galaxy Watch Active 2
Soft Reset:
- Hold the home button for at least 7 seconds until the watch turns off.
- Turn the watch back on.
Factory Reset (Erases user data):
- Turn your watch on by pressing and holding the Home button for a couple of seconds.
- After the watch turns on, press the Home button again to open the App menu.
- Locate the Settings app.
- Open the Settings app then scroll down and tap on General.
- Now select Reset.
- Confirm the reset. Your watch will now delete all user data and reset to factory settings.
Gear Fit 2
Soft Reset:
- Press the Home button on your Gear Fit 2.
- Touch Settings.
- Scroll down and touch Gear info.
- Scroll down and touch Reset Gear.
- Touch Light Reset.
- Touch the checkmark.
Factory Reset (Erases user data):
- Press the Home button on your Gear Fit 2.
- Touch Settings.
- Scroll down and touch Gear info.
- Scroll down and touch Reset Gear.
- Touch Factory Reset.

Gear Fit 2 Pro
Soft Reset:
- Hold the Power button until the watch turns off.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Turn the watch back on using the Power button.
Factory Reset (Erases user data):
- Turn on the watch by using the Power button.
- Now open Settings.
- Select Gear Info and tap Reset Gear.
- Confirm this option to launch the hard reset operation.
Gear S2/Gear S3
Soft Reset:
- Press and hold the Power key for 8-10 seconds.
- Wait as the device restarts.
Factory Reset (Erases user data):
- Turn your watch off.
- Hold the Power/Home button at the bottom of the Watch face until "Rebooting" appears on the screen.
- Quickly, press the Power/Home button multiple times until the "Select REBOOT MODE" screen appears.
